Bachelor of Science in General Science and Technology with Teaching
Acquire a strong foundation in the traditional disciplines of science and technology while developing the skills to effectively teach the curriculum in secondary schools with the Bachelor of Science in General Science and Technology with Teaching in Temple’s College of Science and Technology. Offered through Temple’s innovative TUteach program, the 124-credit undergraduate degree program is designed for students who want to pursue a career in STEM education. With technology being an integral part in scientific professions, it is important for secondary school teachers to possess a background in technology in order to prepare students for their future education and careers.
In the General Science and Technology with Teaching bachelor's degree program, you will
- analyze, evaluate and use scientific literature in your own research;
- be able to effectively introduce secondary school students to various technology platforms and systems;
- build a strong foundation in the traditional disciplines of science;
- develop the ability to discuss and present on STEM issues that impact society;
- gain a thorough understanding of scientific methodology by studying historical and theoretical models as well as experimenting in the lab;
- learn to process and evaluate both theoretical and real-life quantitative data;
- obtain experience in utilizing state of the art technology in designing science and mathematics lessons
- sharpen your skills in scientific and tech inquiry, writing and oral presentation; and
- understand design and deliver lessons using the “5E” model.
Temple TUteach
TUteach is a collaboration between the College of Science and Technology and the College of Education and Human Development. TUteach integrates a secondary school (grades seven through 12) mathematics or science teaching track so you can become eligible to take the Praxis certification exam upon graduation.
