On October 2, 2014, Pennsylvania Secretary of Health Michael Wolf announced that all funding for the FY2014 Commonwealth Universal Research Enhancement (CURE) research program is being frozen. Within Temple University, this source of funding is often referred as PA Cure Formula Funds or tobacco funds.
The most immediate effect of this action to Temple University investigators is that for the current fiscal year, FY 2014, the formula allocation of $2.35 Million that we are eligible to receive will not be available. The availability of the funds for future fiscal years is also in question.
The Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Research has issued revised guidance regarding internal timelines for research proposal submissions. Effective 11/01/13, a two-day submission exception request process will be observed for all funding proposals. This parallels the current five-day submission exception process, and is an effort to provide adequate time for the University-level grant administration team to fully review and approve proposals for submission to external sponsors.
