A native of the Philadelphia area, Michael T. Roberts has been presenting work for the past 15 years. He received his BFA from Temple University in 2003 and his MFA in Dance Composition and Performance in 2011. In 2003, Roberts received an award for Outstanding Compositional Achievement from the Temple University Boyer College of Music and Dance as well as a New Edge Mix Grant from the Community Education Center in Philadelphia, Pa. In 2011 he was selected as a Whos Who in American Universities.
His compositional work has been presented in the American College Dance Festival and the Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Michaelʼs film ʻSoul Blueʼ was presented in the 2004 Philadelphia Dance Film Festival: Motion Pictures at the Prince Music Theatre, Philadelphia PA. As an arts administrator, Roberts has worked with Merian Soto, Charles O. Anderson / dance theatre X, Melanie Stewart Dance Theatre, The nEW Festival, Rennie Harris Puremovement and Temple University. As a performer, he has worked with Merian Soto, Charles O. Anderson, Silvana Cardell, Clyde Evanʼs Jr, Tanya Calamoneri and Cornelius Carter.
At Temple University, Roberts has served as a Gen. Ed instructor, Composition instructor and Coordinator of Auditions and Recruitment for the Dance Program.
