Program

This workshop will assist intern teachers to prepare for the Intermediate Performance Assessment (IPA). Activities will address writing about the Temple Teacher Education Performance Standards for the Intermediate Performance Assessment (IPA), regular class assignments, lesson plans, and examining student writing assignments.  

Agenda

The workshop will include the following activities:

• Using a Rubric to Guide Your Writing
• Using a 4-step Process to Write Practice Essays
• Planning, Organizing, and Structuring the Essay
• Purpose, Tone, and Style in Composition
• Common Grammar, Spelling, and Word Usage Errors
• Practicing Peer Review and Editing

Registration

There is no cost to attend the workshop but you must register in advance no later than September 19, 2011.  Priority seating will be given to those completing the writing assignment this semester.  Others will be admitted on a first-come, first-served, space-available. basis.  You will receive confirmation after 9/20/11.  Email the completed registration form to Joyce Howard at jhoward@temple.edu or fax it to her attention at 215-204-5154.

You may bring a laptop to do the writing practice activities; however, a printer may not be available. If you use a computer, you will need to save each draft.  You can then copy/paste as you revise and rewrite.  It is valuable to save each version of the writing exercise so you can recognize the changes and development of your writing.
