Trainer (Harrisburg Campus) Full-time

Job Number:  TU-18374

This grant funded Trainerposition will work closely with and under the supervision of the CertifiedInvestigation Program Manager to provide face to face training with fidelity tothe established training model for Certified Investigators through courses offered by the Office ofDevelopmental Programs.    These courses train staff members, fromprograms that provide services to individuals with intellectual disabilities,to effectively investigate allegations of abuse and neglect and other criticalincidents. This position must beavailable to assist in fielding external questions when necessary and providesupport for the review process. This position will require extensive overnighttravel. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor's degree and atleast three years of experience and knowledge of investigative and incidentmanagement processes. Significant demonstrated experience as effective trainer.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Ability to travel totraining sites that might not be accessible by public transportation throughoutthe state of Pennsylvania and nationally as required.

*Ability to extensively travel overnight and spendmultiple days at various locations in the state and nationally.

*Demonstrated effective training experience.

*Incident management and investigative experienceand knowledge.

*Excellent verbal, written and interpersonalcommunication skills.

*Skilled in the use of personal computers andrelated software applications, ability to gather data, to compile information, preparesreports, and records maintenance.

*Knowledge of computerized information systems,ability to handle, track and monitor data.

*Skill in organizing resources, establishingpriorities and meeting assigned deadlines.

*Ability to work independently and in a teamenvironment.

*Ability to be a professional representative ofTemple University.

Part-time ESL Instructor

The Intensive English Language Program at Temple Harrisburg has openings for part-time ESL instructors starting Summer, 2015.  Apply now if you are interested in working with the excellent of Temple in the heart of Pennsylvania!

The instructor teaches course(s) in English as a Second Language focusing on the core skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening comprehension and related skills in grammar, pronunciation, and other communicative functions in academic and/or business fields. Responsibilities also include adapting curriculum, preparing and scoring student evaluations, and counseling students. Performs other duties as assigned. 

Required Education and Experience: 
Master's degree in TESOL (Teaching English to speakers of other languages),Linguistics, or Education. Advanced study in other fields will be considered.  Experience teaching in cross-cultural settings. Experience learning a second language for at least 4 years or living abroad in a non-English speaking environment for a minimum of 1 year is preferred.

Required Skills and Abilities:
*Excellent interpersonal communication skills. 

* Have learned a second language for 4 years or more, and or speak another language to an intermediate level

*Ability to teach in an interactive, somewhat independent system to effectively achieve outcomes
*Candidate must demonstrate competency in teaching individuals whose English language skills vary widely.
*Must demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences either by living abroad or having 2+ yrs. experience in a sub-culture here in the US.

Preferred:
*Minimum of 3 years of post-secondary ESL teaching experience. 
*Previous experience working successfully in similar adult or post-secondary environment as an ESL teacher

Search for Full time Non-Tenure Track (“NTT”) Teaching Faculty on Main Campus, Philadelphia, and Harrisburg Campus

 

Temple University’s School of Social Work (SSW) seeks applicants for non-tenure track faculty positions. We are searching for talented and innovative educators with solid experience in multiple domains of Social Work. Experience in online teaching is especially desired.

 

SSW is dedicated to societal transformations to eliminate social, political, and economic injustices for poor and oppressed populations and to advancing the quality of life for all through education, research and scholarship, public service, and advocacy. Our diverse student body of nearly 1,000 students are enrolled in our generalist BSW program and in three distinct concentrations in the MSW program, which include Community and Policy, Clinical Practice, and Management and Planning. SSW has 28 faculty who teach on the Main campus in Philadelphia and the State Capitol in Harrisburg. Our faculty also extends the School’s reach to campuses in Center City Philadelphia, nearby suburban Ambler and across central and Northern Pennsylvania as part of our Commonwealth Cohorts.

 

Founded in 1884, Temple University is a comprehensive research university based in Philadelphia with campuses in Pennsylvania, Rome and Tokyo. The School of Social Work sits within the College of Public Health, which includes academic units and colleagues working with 4,500 students in a range of related disciplines such as Public Health, Rehabilitation Sciences, Physical Therapy, Kinesiology, Health Services and Policy, Nursing, Communication Sciences and Disorders. Opportunities are available to contribute to interdisciplinary teaching and service.

 

 SSW is searching for up to FOUR non-tenure track 9-month teaching faculty members based both in Philadelphia and Harrisburg for the 2015-2016 academic year who are highly qualified and experienced to support our advanced curriculum in Management and Planning, Community and Policy, and Clinical practice as well as Generalist Practice and Policy. Positions are available on Main campus in Philadelphia with expectation that faculty will also teach on Saturdays in nearby Temple campuses in Center City and Ambler. Positions are also available on the Harrisburg campus with the expectation that in keeping with the educational mission of the SSW, faculty hired may also teach in core areas of the MSW programs located in DuBois, Mansfield, Dallas, Harrisburg, Lancaster and other locations in northern and central Pennsylvania. The SSW is expanding online offerings to meet the needs of part-time students and those living in rural environments. Experience and expertise in online learning is especially desired.

 

Completed Doctoral level education in Social Work or a closely related field is preferred. However, applicants without doctoral level training might be considered for those who plan to complete doctoral degrees within a year or those who document significant professional social work practice experience at an advanced level of accomplishment.
