department of Medicine - Section of cardiology

Clinical Programs

Since its inception in 1947, Temple University Hospital's Section of Cardiology has been on the forefront of innovation.  Temple was among the first in the region to have a coronary care unit, the first to have a formalized training program for fellows, the first to institute a heart surgery department, and the first to perform complex heart transplant operations.

At Temple, we care for patients across the spectrum of cardiovascular disease.  Our goal is to provide patients appropriate therapy in a caring environment, and ultimately return them to their families, jobs and hobbies with renewed vigor. We also strive to provide their referring physicians with the needed recommendations for long-term care.

The following links will provide detailed information on the clinical cardiovascular disease programs for which Temple's Section of Cardiology is known.  We are proud of our tradition of pioneering advances in cardiology.

  • Joint Advanced Cardiac Imaging Program
  • Cardiology and Radiology have developed a multidisciplinary program that will enhance our ability to diagnose and provide direction in the management of complex coronary and structural heart disease. Please click on the above link for more detailed information.
