Section of oncology - temple cancer center

Ranked among the best regional cancer programs by U.S. News & World Report (2011-2012 regional rankings), Temple Cancer Center has the most highly skilled physicians and staff who provide the latest and most advanced diagnostic procedures and treatment options – including chemotherapy, radiation therapy and other cutting-edge treatments available at the Department of Radiation Oncology, surgical care, and supportive case-management -- for all forms of cancer. A multidisciplinary team of experienced, caring physicians and healthcare professionals evaluates each patient and develops an individualized treatment plan. The patient’s primary-care physician, along with the patient and family, are involved in helping to determine the best course of therapy. Temple Cancer Center patients have access to the most sophisticated clinical trials and programs available today. Research interests of the Cancer Center include new treatment modalities for solid tumors and hematologic malignancies, the use of biologic response modifiers in the treatment of malignancy, and broad-based clinical and basic investigations in bone-marrow transplantation.

Temple Cancer Center recently received a three-year Accreditation with Commendation from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons – which assessed its compliance with 36 standards, including assurance that patients are afforded access to a full range of diagnostic and treatment services. Indeed, the Cancer Center earned commendations in seven areas: quality improvement, outreach programs for prevention and early detection, patient enrollment in clinical trials, Cancer Registry education, patient-outcome analysis and reporting, timely patient case abstracting, and timely and accurate data submission to the national registry.

In October of 2011, Temple Cancer Center earned a “Partners in Health Initiatives” Award from the American Cancer Society in recognition of Temple’s high-level of commitment to the Society’s mission of reaching varied audiences effectively with life-saving messages and programs.
