Introduction to the Sol Sherry Thrombosis Research Center

Our staff is interwoven by the faculty organizational structure within the School of Medicine.  Some of our faculty hold a primary appointment in the Center as well as having secondary appointments in other departments and centers, including the Departments of Medicine, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, Microbiology and Immunology, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Department of Radiology, Biology, the Fels Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Biology, and the General Clinical Research Center.   The organizational structure of the Sol Sherry Thrombosis Research Center is an ideal environment for professional collaboration and scientific advancement as well as for training and professional development for our predoctoral trainees and postdoctoral fellows. We focus our investigations and basic training in the fields of biochemistry and physiology of platelets, the biochemistry and molecular biology of coagulation factors, and the physiology and cell biology of vessel wall cells. These vast areas of interest provide participation and collaboration among our colleagues within the Sol Sherry Thrombosis Research Center and beyond and, most importantly, provide a solid training environment that we, as a Center, find equally important as the advancement of scientific investigation and academic medicine.
