Besides regular courses that meet over a college semester, OLLI also offers its members other options.
Friday Forums are presentations (mostly) by non-OLLI faculty on a wide range of topics. They are held most Fridays, during the fall and spring semesters, from 10:30 to 11:30AM. Hospitality is provided and begins at 10:00 AM. The Friday Forums are free and open to the public.
Summer Cafes are presentations by OLLI members who may or may not teach classes, but who want to offer a one-time presentation on a topic of interest. These are usually held during lunchtime on Thursdays over the summer semester. They are not open to the public.

Books, books and more books... Books to borrow, books for sale, DVDs, CDs and audio books are waiting for you when you visit our OLLI library in Room 523. As a member of OLLI, you may borrow new books hot off the presses for a three-week period. So put away your Kindle for a while and visit our OLLI library. You’ll love browsing our shelves and finding an unexpected treasure. Hours are Monday through Friday, 11:30 AM to 12:50 PM. The Library also sponsors a book club that meets once a month during the
fall and spring semesters.
OLLI strives to broaden the outlook of members by carrying out excursions to nearby locations of cultural and historic interest. Our Trips Committee has sponsored trips to various Philadelphia area institutions such as the Franklin Institute, the National Constitution Center and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts at special group rates. We have also taken day-trips to DC, Gettysburg, NJ and NY.
Every year, OLLI’s Special Events Committee holds two events where members of the OLLI community get together to socialize and to honor those who have contributed to the organization by their active participation and/or financial support. In early December, a festive holiday party is held for all faculty, students and staff. This event is partially subsidized by the organization and includes lunch and entertainment. In early May, OLLI holds its annual luncheon, preceded by the annual meeting. The meeting recognizes the officers, faculty, the committee volunteers and OLLI staff. The luncheon is accompanied by top entertainment.
OLLI lunchrooms are in Rooms 523 and 518. They are open between 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Members use this time to socialize together, continue conversations stimulated by the morning class, or just relax and read a book. There are snack, soda, coffee and tea vending machines on the 5th floor of our building, and Express Cafe (which offers a wide range of food options) is twenty steps from the entrance of our building. Barnes in Noble, in our lobby, also offers food and beverage options. We are also surrounded by countless restaurants within walking distance.
Our Fundraising Committee conducts activities throughout the year to strengthen community and to encourage giving. The OLLI Talent Show is held every year in April. An Arts Fair, for crafts and fine arts, literary and performing arts, is held every other year in November, where OLLI artists, writers and performers, have a chance to display and perform their craft. Art and Photography notecards (designed by OLLI artists and photographers) are sold most years in the fall semester. Informal parties are sometimes held in the fall semester to welcome members back to school.
