Undergraduate Certificate in French
Focus on composition, reading and writing, and conversational French with the Undergraduate Certificate in French in the College of Liberal Arts at Temple University.
More than 200 million people across five continents speak French. This 20-credit certificate program introduces undergraduates to the French language and Francophone cultures. As you progress through the various levels of language courses, you’ll learn the fundamentals of grammar and vocabulary, and you’ll work to develop sophisticated conversational skills.
These skills will allow you to speak, read and write confidently in French for the purposes of your professional or personal pursuits, in the U.S. and abroad.
Classes & Curriculum
Certificates are awarded only at the time of completion of the bachelor's degree and cannot be awarded either as a stand-alone program of study or after completion of the first bachelor's degree.
Students are required to complete 20 credits of language courses. Course requirements include the following.
- Introduction to French I
- Introduction to French II
- Introduction to French III
- Intermediate French
- French for Business
After completing the core courses, students may choose to focus on specific areas of the French language, including conversational French, reading or composition.
