As part of the OTD program, you will complete four weeks (160 hours) of mentored field experience with experts in occupational therapy. Depending on your leadership objectives and specialty practice area, your field experience could involve working with clinicians, researchers or educators that you identify with the guidance and support of your faculty advisor. Your field study may focus on collecting data for your capstone project, expanding skills related to clinical education or honing specialty clinical skills.
You will also complete a doctoral capstone project guided by a faculty mentor, for which you will use research methods and evidence-based practice to focus on a specific clinical problem. A different aspect of the doctoral project is developed each semester, culminating in a project implementation and an analysis in your last semester.
