Antonio Romero, director of the Temple University Community Gateway, is devoted to increasing equity in the world, particularly in North Philadelphia, which he is proud to call home. Antonio employs the skill sets he’s cultivated throughout his lifetime in community development and education to work with our internal and external partners to realize the full potential our communities have.

Antonio has a notable record of public service through his work in the Philadelphia Mayor’s Office of Education, public and charter schools, and local nonprofits; his contributions to advisory boards and affinity groups; and his long history of volunteerism. He knows that we must seek to understand before seeking to be understood and takes that approach in building relationships that contribute to the advancement of our communities. Antonio is responsible for creating the system for reporting, cataloging and promoting Temple’s community engagement efforts. These efforts allow us to better connect members of local communities to the available services at Temple and throughout Philadelphia. This work is an extension of Antonio’s character, and he is honored to direct the Gateway.
